Allen Steele was raised with an encyclopedia in one hand, a glass of Bordeaux in the other, no television in the house but shelves full of books in every room—leading quite naturally to a career choice between sommelier and audiobook narrator. He chose the latter upon realizing the former could be enjoyed even more fully as a hobby.
